Rodent Management

As the old saying “you never have just one mouse in the house”, if you spot one mouse, there is a possibility of more. Rodents live both indoors and outdoors.

Your home or business can create a perfect environment for rodents to thrive. The possibility of a rodent infestation is why you need to have a service partner with the experience to manage the issue quickly.

  • Droppings
  • Shed hair
  • Rub Marks
  • Pungent smell
  • Burrows or holes in your garden
  • Gnawing and unexplained damage to wood, carpeting, furniture, upholstery, wiring, and food

Rodents can present serious health, economic, and safety concerns because they and their parasites carry numerous diseases. Every year they contaminate and destroy hundreds of millions of dollars worth of property (both commercial and residential), food, and other goods. Rodents are particularly destructive in food processing facilities because they contaminate food with their urine and droppings. Since the primary activities of a rodent are gnawing and chewing, countless electrical fires have been directly attributed to rodent damage.

The first step to manage rodents is to reduce the attractiveness of your home or business. These precautionary steps can help prevent rodents from even entering:

  • Make sure all doors fit tightly with no gaps
  • Seal up any holes that are at least ¼ inch in diameter on the outside of the building that may allow rodents to enter
  • Trash receptacles and bins should have tight-fitting covers
  • Keep all indoor and outdoor areas free of debris and clutter
  • Store grain, pet food, and other food products in sealed, metal containers
  • Trim trees and shrubs back from the building to prevent rodents from using them to gain access. Try to maintain a 1 metre gap between these trees and plants and your structure
